It is located in the heart of the historic center of Teramo and a short distance from the Duomo, inserted in the archaeological complex of the city. It is an ancient church, built in the eighth century and then restored in the eleventh and twelfth centuries, and represents a portion of the original Cathedral of Santa Maria Aprutiensis, burned by the Normans in 1156 along with the whole city and extended in the area of the current archaeological excavations.

Once rebuilt, from 1175 it was dedicated to San Getulio and later, from the 18th century, called the Church of Sant'Anna dei Pompetti or, in its extended form, the Church of Sant'Anna of the Pompano family from Teramo. Today's plant probably served as a presbyterial area of the original basilica and internally consists of three square rooms, the left one with a ribbed cross vaulted brick vault, the central one with ribbed cross vault and the right one with a roof.

It preserves some ancient stone remains and parts of frescoes dating back to the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. The roof is gabled, the facade is extremely simple, has a portal with a flat architrave and the bell tower has a bell.
