Its construction was authorized by Francis I of Bourbon in 1827, was launched the following year and was finally consecrated May 23, 1841. Almost twenty years later it was enlarged and embellished internally with works of art and stucco and reinforced with ad hoc works in the early twentieth century.

The church is between the streets and alleyways of the village and has a brick façade with a lintel portal surmounted by a tympanum, in turn surmounted by a small mosaic of 12 majolica tiles depicting the Madonna Addolorata with seven swords in the heart.

Higher up there is a large semicircular window. From the left wall and looking sideways rises a bell gable that supports two bells. The interior has a single nave dominated by a large dome.
